The Hērēs Guild story

We began as retailers—immersed in what makes a product resonate, a story connect, and a brand endure. As we built relationships with artisan-led companies, we saw a gap—no wholesale model truly supported their needs. So we launched The Hērēs Guild—a new approach designed to bridge brands and retailers through care, strategy, and respect for craft.

As we grew, established brands with U.S. market experience began reaching out—not for access, but for evolution. They came with new goals: expanding product lines, deepening key account relationships, and building lasting B2C engagement.

Our mission grew with theirs. Today, we partner with brands of all sizes—from emerging players to global names—helping them scale with integrity and intention. Through wholesale, D2C, product development, and hands-on collaboration, we work to make artisan-led brands a lasting part of the U.S. landscape.

Meet our founders

Liz Fodera
Co-founder

Liz Fodera is a highly experienced brand strategist with over two decades of expertise spanning merchandising, brand building, and go-to-market strategy. She is passionate about building connections between brands and their audiences, driving growth, deepening engagement, and enhancing brand positioning. Liz has held leadership roles at prominent retailers such as Food52, Bloomingdale’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue, where she honed her skills in merchandising, eCommerce, brand positioning, and customer experience.

Liz has provided hands-on consulting services to a wide range of clients, including XpressLane Brands, Resonance and Lewis. She specializes in merchandising strategies, assortment planning, product development, omni-channel execution, and brand positioning. Her consulting work includes developing innovative playbooks, advising on product assortment optimization, and guiding inventory planning to reduce costs. Liz’s personalized approach has helped brands expand product lines, streamline operations, achieve significant business growth, and elevate their brand positioning.

Now, as co-founder of The Hērēs Guild, Liz channels her love for innovative thinking into her leadership. She guides teams in creating impactful strategies across digital merchandising, product development, brand positioning, and storytelling.

Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing Sciences from Boston College, where she graduated Cum Laude.

Peter Themistocles
Co-founder

Peter Themistocles is a visionary leader with over a decade of experience in retail and merchandising. His career began at Macy’s and Brooks Brothers, where he gained extensive expertise in product development, production, and merchandising. This foundation has provided him with a unique retail perspective and a deep understanding of how to create strategies that effectively engage consumers. 

At Food52, Peter introduced strategic initiatives that propelled the brand’s e-commerce platform and expanded its product offerings, particularly in the Cookware and Kitchen categories. His ability to combine creative vision with business strategy consistently delivers impactful results for the brands under his leadership.

As co-founder of The Hērēs Guild, Peter continues to use his creativity and strategic insight to develop product solutions that foster stronger connections between brands and their audiences. One of his key strengths is creating demand for existing products through innovative storytelling that highlights their versatility. His deep knowledge of product qualities allows him to craft approaches that authentically connect with consumers, driving engagement and long-term success.

Peter holds a double major in Marketing and Retail Management from Syracuse University, with a minor in Hospitality Management.

Our name and mark reflect our deep appreciation for roots. Hērēs is the Latin root of heritage—a word tied to identity, inheritance, and lasting value. Our logo, a top-down rendering of roots, mirrors our approach: honoring what lies beneath and bringing its strength to the surface.

We begin with what already holds—story, craft, intention. From there, we build with care, shaping strategy through thoughtful execution and guiding each decision with a long view on growth. This blend of depth and direction is what makes lasting growth not just possible, but inevitable.
